Do You Have Fifteen Minutes?

Once again I am surprised at how a simple task is a life-changing moment for another.

Two days ago I decided once again to ask God if He had a task for me today other than finishing up the tasks He’d already given me –clear the clutter completely out of my life.

It turns out He did.  Make two phone calls.

Now I know hundreds of people.  I have hundreds of relatives.  So when the name of a woman I saw maybe every six months popped into my head, I figured it wasn’t just me.  One thing I knew about her was that she had a hard time sleeping, often not falling asleep until most of us were getting up.  I waited until afternoon to call her.  She sounded agitated and her phone kept going in and out of a good connection.

“Where are you?” I asked.

“In the hospital.  We just found out my baby brother [an adult] has cancer in his lungs and his brain.  So many tumors.  He hasn’t even been sick.  He just had a seizure so we brought him in and they did a CATscan and MRI.  They just told us.  He has lung and brain cancer.”

I listened while she told me about her brother, his family, what a terrible shock this was, how they had just found out, they didn’t know what was going to happen. All I did was listen for fifteen minutes until she sounded calmer.

“I’m so glad you called,” she said.  “I was thinking about you.  I needed to hear your voice.”

I know hundreds of people.  God knew who needed me to call that day. What about you?

Do you have fifteen minutes for God to help you be a blessing to another today? Will you ask Him? And later post a comment here about what happened, please. Thanks!

  1. I am facing uncertainly with my husband— he wants a divorce. & I thought of people I trusted to call during this time. I knew they would have godly wisdom and/or one of them specifically could encourage me through her personality.
It’s beautiful how God blesses us to be a blessing even in just a little time spent with someone else— that could be through a post, a few words, a smile, a text, a visit, a call, listening to someone, etc.

Super beautiful that God uses us to be a light, His hand and feet!✝️

  2. All you have to do is ask and listen- God will show you the way- Be a ray of sunshine in someone’s life- 1 Samuel 3:9 Speak Lord, your servant is listening
