My resolution: To get over my selfish, it’s all about me attitude. To lose myself in the service of God and his children. How? When I do anything, even laundry, to do it for God and his children. To notice when it’s about me, and turn it around to being about Him.
Here’s how I do laundry now. Laundry basket is full. Must get that done along with 8 zillion other things. Slight irritation and lots of boredom.
Here’s doing laundry while forgetting myself in the service of God and his children. Thank you God for our good, well made clothing. And freely flowing water and a washing machine.
One of the ways I take care of my good husband is by quietly serving him – giving him a magic closet and set of drawers. He empties them out and comes back to find them filled again with clean clothes. Thank you for my good husband who gets his clothes dirty doing work that takes care of me!
As I do laundry I think of cleanliness being next to godliness. I think of stains removed and clothing made like new – thank you for the Savior and his gift to me, that I am also cleaned and made like new.
As I fold clothes my hands are busy but my mind is freed up to dwell on thee and feel thy word and thy joy in my heart.
As I put them away my home is once more clean and uncluttered, a place where thy spirit can dwell.
What is your New Year’s resolution?
So fine, what are the odds of getting ready to do my laundry (in drudgery) and stopped (purposely to stall) to take a detour to check out your blog onlyto read a convicting thought on my laundry attitude. LOL….well now, after I repent, and say a word of thanks, I’ll skip right off and do my laundry…in JOY. Thanks for sharing and Merry Christmas!
That IS funny. God is great. Thank you for letting me know and Merry Christmas to you too!
