I’m speaking today with Dave Phillips, founder along with his wife Liane of Cincinnati Works – the nonprofit company that has moved 5000 families from the chronically unemployed and the working poor to self sufficiency.
The same program is a source of reliable, entry level employees for local businesses and cuts down on tax dollars used to support the chronically unemployed.
With an 85% success rate compared to the abysmal 20% of most government funded jobs programs, Dave shares why that still isn’t good enough.
Here’s
- Dave’s advice on how to get started on your own community improvement
- why he refused government funding
- why programs like this need to be community based
- the primary issue affecting 60% of the chronically unemployed
- the Cincinnati Works business model that attracted the attention of the Harvard Business Review (not known for writing about non-profits!)
