Happiness in Real Life

I’m reading “In The Spirit of Happiness” by the good-humored Monks of New Skete. It would be nice to give yourself over to God I think – like a monk, a nun. I’m envious of that spiritual based life. Then I read how they support themselves in their spiritual life – farming, constructing their own buildings, running three businesses. Their days start and end with prayer and hymns then it’s off to work. Their work supports their real life – their spiritual life. And mine? Which is mine? The checklist of scripture and prayer then I’m off to real life? Or is it the other way around?

What about you?

  1. The name of my dance center is how I stumbled upon (GOD lead me to) your website! Thank the LORD for that! God is in the process of teaching me that, yes, our spiritual life really is our real life & work just supports it! In reference to today’s challenge (19), like the 4 yr. old girl, my Mother taught me to trust Jesus, no matter how badly people abused or used us, he will help us through, and give us a new life! Amen & Shalom (nothing missing, nothing broken)!!!!
P.S. Yes GOD really does know what is the best thing for us to do and I am learning to just do what he tells me to no matter what anyone or everyone else thinks! Life is so much more peaceful & happy when I do what GOD says, instead of allowing what others are expecting me to do to dictate my life! GOD BLESS YOU!

  2. Maggie it’s good to hear from you. Choosing God over others can be a dilemma since we as Christians want to serve and please others. But God’s choices for our life always turn out to be the best for all, in the long run. And often the short run as I bet you’ve noticed.
